Mid-Michigan residents urged to prepare ahead of potential severe weather
LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - With strong storms possible Thursday night in Mid-Michigan, residents are being urged to prepare themselves and their homes.
Weather officials recommend taking several steps ahead of Thursday’s storms:
- Secure patio furniture and other loose outdoor items.
- Take down bird feeders and anything that could be blown around by strong winds.
- Charge phones, tablets and other electronic devices.
- Fully charge power banks and backup batteries.
- Finish laundry and other household tasks that require electricity.
- Run errands before 9 p.m.
- Plan to be home or at your destination by sunset.
- Avoid unnecessary travel once storms move into the area.
While conditions are expected to remain quiet through much of the day, residents should be prepared for possible power outages and hazardous travel conditions later tonight. More details here.
