Boy, 11, seriously hurt; horse killed in crash involving buggy

GLADWIN COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM) - An 11-year-old Amish boy was seriously injured in a crash after the horse-drawn buggy he was driving was struck by a car, according to the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash June 10 at 10:05 a.m. on McCulloch Road, one-quarter mile north of Lang Road in Beaverton Township.
The sheriff’s office believes the buggy was exiting the driveway of a home when it pulled out in front of a car. Vegetation at the end of the driveway may have blocked the boy’s view.

The horse and buggy were hit by a 2016 Buick Enclave driven by a 79-year-old woman from Gladwin County, the sheriff’s office said.
The child was taken to a hospital in Midland for treatment of serious injuries. The woman was also injured and taken to a hospital in Gladwin, the sheriff’s office said.
The horse did not survive the crash.
